Future Shakers is an events and insights series exploring disruptive positive shifts in our society, economy, and how we relate to our environment, each other, and ourselves. What are the shake-ups humanity needs? How can we amplify their impact and get on a better track?

Developed by Stronger Ground in partnership with a broad range of social enterprises and change makers, this series of gatherings and insights will connect and expand the reach of progressive ideas, building better futures.

About Me: Stronger Ground Founder Alicia Boyd

For the last 17 years I've produced a broad range of events and training programs focussed on skilled capability development in growing industries and connecting stakeholders in a strategic way, engaging relevant key community members, and involving them closely in the process of event development.  My main focus areas are reform of industrial and economic markets, progressive scientific and technology shifts, policy developments, creative expression, shadow work, community building, social equity, climate, environmental rehabilitation and sustainability, and positive social change in general. I'm passionate about supporting diverse multi-stakeholder networks to reach common ground together.

Many of us in this complex world are career slashies, and I am also a molecular ecologist studying the biology of soils and their role in geochemical cycles. I have a Bachelor of Science degree focussed on plant science and molecular biology and completed a Graduate Diploma in Biological Sciences exploring the roles of melanin producing, soil aggregating and plant symbiotic fungi in carbon sequestration. I'm currently studying towards a Masters in Environmental Science and Management at University of New England and further refining methodologies for accurately and affordably measuring soil carbon and nitrogen stabilisation. As co-founder of BioQuisitive (now Co-Labs Melbourne) I helped establish one of Australia's first citizen-run molecular biology labs, part of the global DIY Bio movement that gave birth to the biotech incubator IndieBio, reducing equity related barriers of access to biological sciences research and new technology development.

I'm an active contributor to peer to peer creative culture, co-creating event experiences through the Australian regional Burning Man movement and Sydney's grassroots creative community over the last 13 years, and a prolific cook and a major community feeder and nurturer.

I believe if we want a better world, with stronger and healthier foundations, we have to roll up our sleeves and build one, together.

I've worked on economic development focussed and positive social change promoting events and media with a broad range of companies, not for profit organisations, and government organisations including:
